The team of Barrackpore Police Commissionerate is dedicated to keep historic area of Shahid Mangal Pandey under a good governance as visualised by the Government of West Bengal. With a new start of City Policing in the northern fringes of Kolkata, the formation of Police Commissionerate since January 2012 is aimed to provide better services to public in respect of improved sense of safety and security, easy accessibility to the Government machinery and quick redress of grievances. The City police is making the best efforts to prevent and detect crime promptly and providing support to common people in the interest of their overall well being and peaceful living.
The response time of police mobile vans, Traffic regulations, close supervision by Senior Police Officers, professional support of Special Branch, Detective branch, Enforcement Branch, Radio Flying Squads at strategic points, Licencing and involvement of Civic Volunteers are some of the major areas where policing has witnessed marked positive changes in this unit for the last few years. A large number of Jute mills on the bank of River Ganga, many other major Industrial units, Dakhineshwar Maa Bhabotarini Kali temple, Gandhi Ghat Barrackpore, Chashma Baba Mazar at Hazinagar and Ramprasad temple at Halishahar are some of the places having sizeable movements of people from various areas including foreign countries and the City Police always provides support to such visitors.
The Commissionerate has a strength of more than 200 Lady Police Personnel at various Police Stations ,Lady Commandos and a fully functional Barrackpore Women Police Station moving towards better empowerment of women as well as better support to women. With advancing infancy of it's new set up Barrackpore Police Commissionerate has witnessed significant drop in crime trends and improved public confidence. Active support and well wishes of common people are the keys which will lead our City Police to more and more service - oriented activities
